PCBFRE - PCBoard File Ratio Enforcer
(C) 1991 - Geoffrey Sy
Support BBS:
The GRAFIX Connection
(416) 286-8734 - 1200/2400 ATi/etc
(416) 287-9002 - 9600/14400 USR HST
PROGRAM REVISION NOTES (in reverse order):
08-Oct-1991 - 2ßB - Added an option to enforce post/download ratio.
+ To enforce post/download ratio instead of post/calls
ratio option, append the parameter /POSTDL to the normal
command line.
21-Sep-1991 - 2.0ß - Added some user requested items (Quickie Release)
+ REMOVED the OPENING and CLOSING DELAY on the
UNREGISTERED version.
+ Added the following macros:
@MSGLEFT@ - Messages user has left/uploaded to
PCBoard/Qmail
@MSGREAD@ - Message user has read/downloaded from
PCBoard/Qmail
+ Change the following macros to improve human factor, I
hope these changes won't inconvenience those who didn't
make the requests.
FROM: TO:
$2$ => @MSGRATIO@ - Calls or Downloads allowed per
message posted
$3$ => @FILERATIO@ - Files download per file upload
$4$ => @BYTERATIO@ - Bytes download per byte upload
$8S$ => @ADJBYTES@ - Adjusted download bytes
available (This was changed
from "Kbytes" to "Bytes")
+ I was working on a Time/Byte banking system for PCBFRE
so the configuration had changed a little. I've
included CONVERT.EXE to convert the configuration from
version 1.6 to 2.0ß. The bank is currently in a mess,
so the code wasn't included in this release. This is
not what you registered users pay for, it'll just be a
bonus item to thank you for your support. If you need
a banking system, please don't wait for this. I'm
currently busy seeking employment, so I don't know when
I'll be able to finish this.
+ I lost the code for version v1.6 in a hard drive
accident, so If something is missing or doesn't work
the same as v1.6 please let me know. I couldn't
remember all the "Maintenance" items in v1.6, so I'd
appreciate anything you discovered.
16-Aug-1991 - 1.6 - More cosmetic detailing, Maintenance, Support BBS.
- I've recently aquired a support BBS. The BBS is The
GRAFIX Connection (416) 286-8734/etc - 287-9002/HST.
Drop by anytime you want. The latest version is always
available as a free download, even on your first call.
- Added a display file "EXEMPT" for display to those with
ratios not enforced. Please insert new file location in
configuration file. MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS STEP BEFORE
RUNNING FRESM!!!
- Added a program manager for PCBFRE called FRESM. FRESM
shouldn't be a problem to use. Except for the start-up
command line, the program is menu driven.
- Users who have not downloaded anything will be shown the
normal "PCBFRE.DP" file instead of being told that
they've exceeded their ratio.
- The "FILES" display file will now be shown to to users
exceeded their bytes ratio. The old method was to subtly
display the "PCBFRE.DP" file with negative download
bytes. (Fixed again because it was being displayed
twice)
- Added support for "positive ratio" system (ie: must
upload more than download), ratio value can now be set
lower than 1.
- Replaced the "Can't calculate ratio" messages with the
appropriate display files.
25-Jun-1991 - 1.5 - Added daily bytes limit!
- Added a maximum limit on the number of bytes a user may
download per session.
- The registration unit and source got corrupted, so I had
to code up a new one. I couldn't remember my old formula
so had to start from scratch. New registration numbers
will be issued to all registered users on file as of
June 25th, 1991.
- Completely disabled checking of "# of files" and
"post/calls" ratio if not being enforced.
20-Jun-1991 - 1.4 - Lost to a hard drive error! Never released.
15-Jun-1991 - 1.3 - Minor Cosmetic Surgery & Fix.
- Fix a bug where the files and post/call ratio was
still being enforced, when it wasn't configured to.
- Speed up search for security levels by a fraction
of a sec if you have a lot of levels to enforce.
- Displays a message if the user's level was not found
in PCBFRE's configuration.
- A reminder that the display files 'PCBFRE.DP, FILES,
MSGS' may be customized to your liking. If you don't
want them displayed, then delete them.
- Minor additions to documentation regarding pick-up and
non-cash registrations. If you have Mother Board, EMS
Card, IO Card, IO devices, RAM, SCSI drives, 16-bit
Controllers/Adaptors, any other hardware that may be of
use to me -- I'll trade several registrations for them.
01-Jun-1991 - 1.2 - Added FILES and POST/CALL ratio.
- Additional display files:
FILES: for those who exceeded their files ratio
MSGS: for those who exceeded their post/call ratio
- The new display files are configurable as well as
customizable. Please check the new additions to the
configuration file.
- This version requires PCBoard's USERS.SYS file.
26-May-1991 - 1.1 - Decimal ratios supported.
- The display is now an external part of the program to
allow the SysOp to customize it. The display file is
called 'PCBFRE.DP'.
28-Apr-1991 - 1.0 - Initial release.
